Zaltoprofen

Zaltoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used mainly for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with conditions including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, musculoskeletal disorders, and postoperative pain. It works by selectively inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, which reduces the production of prostaglandins involved in inflammation and pain. Unlike traditional NSAIDs, Zaltoprofen has shown a relatively lower risk of gastrointestinal side effects due to its selective action. Additionally, it exhibits unique bradykinin antagonist properties, which may enhance its analgesic effect in certain types of inflammatory pain. It is typically administered orally in tablet form and is well-tolerated in most patients. It is grouped under the following drug class(es): Cyclooxygenase‑2 (COX‑2) Inhibitors. Its therapeutic use is listed as analgesics and anti-inflammatories. The directory classifies it as a commercial API with a synthetic source/manufacturing origin. Other names for this substance include Peon, Zaltoprofene and Zaltoprofeno. Its PubChem CID is 5720.
