Neomycin sulfate

Neomycin Sulfate is the sulfate salt form of neomycin, a broad spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic derived from Streptomyces fradiae with antibacterial activity. Additionally, neomycin induces misreading of the mRNA template and causes translational frameshift, thereby results in premature termination. This eventually leads to bacterial cell death. It is grouped under the following drug class(es): Aminoglycosides. Its therapeutic use is listed as antibiotics, dermatologicals and wound-healing agents. The directory classifies it as a commercial API with a fermentation-derived source/manufacturing origin. Other names for this substance include Fradiomycin sulfate, Mycifradin, Bykomycin and Neomix. Its PubChem CID is 197162.
