Glucuronolactone

It is best known industrially as a common ingredient in energy drinks, where it is used at doses far above normal dietary exposure and marketed (largely without robust evidence) for energy, cognitive, and “detox” benefits. Glucuronolactone is an endogenous glucose metabolite and lactone of glucuronic acid that occurs naturally in the body and in some plant gums and connective tissues.
