beta-D-Glucopyranose, 2-deoxy-2-(1,3-dihydro-1,3-dioxo-2H-isoindol-2-yl)-, 1,3,4,6-tetraacetate

β-D-Glucopyranose, 2-deoxy-2-(1,3-dihydro-1,3-dioxo-2H-isoindol-2-yl)-, 1,3,4,6-tetraacetate is a glucose derivative in which the C-2 hydroxyl is replaced by a phthalimido group, and the hydroxyls at positions 1, 3, 4, and 6 are acetylated. It is commonly used as an intermediate in the synthesis of amino sugars and glycosylated compounds. The acetyl and phthalimido groups protect reactive sites and facilitate selective chemical transformations.
